OUR SAFETY IS FACING SERIOUS THREATS
The city budget is stretched to a deficit and federal grants to local law enforcement are shrinking. Though crime in the City of Los Angeles is down to a 60-year low, budget cuts to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) continue to threaten the staffing and resources needed to continue the Department’s success. With 97% of the LAPD’s budget spent on personnel, only 3% is left to purchase new equipment and technology and pay for community outreach, youth programs and specialized training. Your support is needed to enhance the efficiency and modernization of the LAPD that will help keep our communities and families safe.

The Los Angeles Police Foundation is the major source of private financial support for the LAPD. The Police Foundation supports the LAPD by creating partnerships that provide resources to fund urgently needed equipment and technology, training, youth programs and community outreach not available from the city budget.

Since its founding in 1998, the Police Foundation has awarded more than $14 million in grants that help the police serve at their highest level.

We can’t afford to let up in the fight against crime. Help us support the LAPD by giving a one-time donation - Click here.

Every day the job of the LAPD gets tougher,
more complex and dangerous. Modern policing requires a high level of sophistication in officer equipment, training, technology and community outreach. As a result, the job of LAPD gets more expensive.

Since the Police Foundation began over 12 years ago, annual grant requests from LAPD to fund projects, has grown from four to 138. Projects range from bomb sniffing training for K-9s stationed at LAX that help protect travelers from terrorist attacks, DNA testing for rape kits that have helped identify and arrest perpetrators, to a mini boot-camp for at-risk youth that has positively turned around the lives of over 10,000 teenagers.
